Chemotherapy Hinders Muscle Building: कैंसर के इलाज में इस्तेमाल होने वाली कीमोथेरेपी (Chemotherapy) से शरीर की नई मांसपेशियों (New Muscles) के निर्माण की प्रक्रिया भी बाधित होती है. इस स्टडी का निष्कर्ष अमेरिकन जर्नल ऑफ फिजियोलॉजी - सेल फिजियोलॉजी (American Journal of Physiology -- Cell Physiology) में प्रकाशित हुआ है. रिसर्चर्स के अनुसार. पहले से ये माना जाता रहा है कि कीमोथेरेपी की दवाएं सेल्स के माइटोकांड्रिया (mitochondria) यानी ऊर्जा घर या स्रोत को प्रभावित करती है, जिसके कारण ऑक्सीडेटिव स्ट्रेस (oxidative stress) बढ़ने से मसल्स के टिशू (Muscle Tissue) को नुकसान होता है. लेकिन इस नई स्टडी में कीमोथेरेपी की 3 दवाओं का कल्चर माध्यम (culture medium) में मसल्स टिशू पर बहुत कम इस्तेमाल किया गया. इसके बावजूद मसल्स पर असर हुआ, लेकिन इसमें मांसपेशियों (Muscles) के बनने की प्रक्रिया, जिसे प्रोटीन संश्लेषण (protein synthesis) कहते है, उस पर असर पड़ा.

Cold coronavirus Boosts SARS-CoV-2 Immunity : नई स्टडी में खुलासा हुआ है कि हल्के लक्षण वाले कोरोना वायरस भी शरीर को फायदा पहुंचा सकते हैं. साइंटिस्टों ने ऐसा दावा किया है कि सर्दी-जुकाम जैसी परेशानी पैदा करने वाले अन्य कोरोना वायरस के खिलाफ जिन लोगों की प्रतिरोधक क्षमता (Immunity) मजबूत होती है, उनमें कोविड-19 से लड़ने की ताकत अधिक हो जाती है. इस स्टडी का निष्कर्ष 'नेचर कम्युनिकेशन (Nature Communication) जर्नल में प्रकाशित किया गया है. इस स्टडी के लिए सार्स सीओवी-2 (cov-2) के प्रकाश में आने से पहले चार अन्य कोरोना वायरस के विश्लेषण के लिए 825 नमूने लिए गए थे. बाद में सार्स सीओवी-2 से संक्रमित 389 लोगों के नमूनों का भी सघन परीक्षण (intensive testing) किया गया. कंप्यूटर आधारित मॉडल के साथ इन विश्लेषणों का मेल करने के बाद रिसर्चर्स ने निष्कर्ष निकाला कि किस प्रकार एंटीबाडी हमलावर वायरस को निष्क्रिय (Inactive) करती है.

Covaxin effective against symptomatic Covid : भारत बायोटेक की कोवैक्सीन (Covaxin) की प्रभावकारिता (efficacy) को लेकर किए गए पहले वास्तविक आकलन (first real assessment) में ये दावा किया गया है कि 'कोवैक्सीन (Covaxin)' गंभीर लक्षणों वाले कोरोना वायरस से बचाने में 50% तक प्रभावी है. इस आकलन को 'द लांसेट इन्फेक्शियस डिजीज (The Lancet Infectious Disease)’ में प्रकाशित किया गया है. ये आकलन देश में कोरोना की दूसरी लहर की पीक के दौरान (यानी 15 अप्रैल 2021 से 15 मई 2021 के बीच) दिल्ली के एम्स (AIIMS) में कार्यरत 2714 हेल्थ वर्कर्स पर हुई स्टडी के आधार पर निकाला है. रिसर्चर्स ने बताया कि स्टडी के दौरान भारत में वायरस के डेल्टा वेरिएंट (Delta Verient) का प्रकोप था और तब कोविड-19 के कुल कनफर्म मामलों में से 80 फीसदी के लिए यही वेरिएंट जिम्मेदार था.

Daily Exercise Reduces The Risk Of Cancer : अमेरिका में हुई एक स्टडी में सामने आया है क रोजाना कम से कम 45 मिनट (सप्ताह में 300 मिनट) की एक्सरसाइज से कैंसर का खतरा कम हो जाता है. कैंसर भारत सहित दुनियाभर में मौत का एक बड़ा कारण है. फिजिकल एक्टिविटी कम होना, एक्सरसाइज और कैंसर पर अमेरिका में की गई इस स्टडी में सामने आया है कि यदि लोग रोजाना कम से कम 45 मिनट पैदल चलें तो अकेले अमेरिका में ही हर साल कैंसर के 46,000 मामलों को रोका जा सकता है. रिसर्चर्स ने इस स्टडी के लिए अमेरिका के सभी राज्यों के 6 लाख लोगों में कैंसर की आशंका और उनकी फिजिकल एक्टिविटी की आदतों का विश्लेषण किया. इस स्टडी में महिला और पुरुषों दोनों को शामिल किया गया. स्टडी में में आया है कि अमेरिका में कैंसर के 3 प्रतिशत मामले सीधे तौर पर शारीरिक निष्क्रियता (physical inactivity) से जुड़े होते हैं.
